The Concept: This assignment focused on the production of a single speaker audiobook narration designed to be immersive and cinematic. Beyond the standard vocal performance, the main objective was to enrich the story with nine distinct, custom foley sound effects created exclusively from everyday household items.
The Process: Operating in Logic Pro, I tracked the primary narration before shifting into sound hunting mode. I utilized items like kitchen utensils, fabric, and dry food packaging to capture bespoke textures that matched the script's action. Each of these nine elements was individually processed and panned to create a 3D sense of space within the listener's headphones, ensuring they felt integrated into the narrative flow rather than sounding like separate sound files.
The Challenge: The clinical challenge was transforming mundane, recognizable sounds into believable narrative tools. Recontextualizing the sound of a rustling cereal bag to sound like dry leaves or a clicking pen to sound like a locking mechanism required precise EQ manipulation and reverb wet dry balancing to match the acoustic room of the narration.
